Rajkot: In a bizarre incident, a 76-year-old man is accused of shooting his 52-year-old son following a heated altercation over his intention to remarry. The fatal incident occurred in Gujarat’s Rajkot on Sunday morning.
As per police reports, the accused, Rambhai alias Ramkubhai Boricha, was determined to get married for the second time, and hence there was a serious clash between the family members. His son, Pratap Boricha, did not agree with the decision at all, and hence the argument was fierce and took place at around 10 AM. Fuming with rage, Rambhai shot two bullets at Pratap, which left him dead at the spot.
The officials said that after committing the crime, Rambhai sat on a chair beside his son’s dead body, showing no remorse.
After the incident, Pratap’s wife, Jaya, filed a complaint against her father-in-law at the Jasdan police station. The authorities acted quickly, arresting Rambhai on the same day. He was subsequently produced before a court and remanded to police custody for two days.
The police have confirmed additional investigations are in process to bring to light additional details of the case. The matter has opened debates regarding domestic quarrels and their repercussions in form of violent outbursts arising from individual conflicts.
