Delhi Budget 2025: Major Allocations and Announcements

Rs 1,000 Crore for Road Connectivity, Rs 3,800 Crore for Flyovers, and Huge Investments in Infrastructure and Welfare

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday tabled the Budget 2025-26, releasing a total outlay of Rs 1 lakh crore for the national capital. The Budget lays emphasis on the building of infrastructure, transport upgradation, women’s welfare, health, and sanitation, among others.

Major Budget Allocations

  • Transport and Infrastructure: Rs 1,000 crore has been budgeted for road connectivity development in Delhi-NCR, and Rs 3,843 crore has been earmarked for the development of road and bridge infrastructure.Furthermore, Rs 3,800 crore has been assigned for the construction of new flyovers.

  • Women’s Welfare: Rs 5,100 crore has been assigned for Mahila Samridhi Yojana under which selected women will be given Rs 2,500 per month.

  • Healthcare: The government has allocated Rs 2,144 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana to enhance healthcare facilities in Delhi. Moreover, Rs 6,874 crore has been provided to boost the overall healthcare industry.

  • Social Security and Welfare: The Budget has provided Rs 10,047 crore for social security and welfare schemes.

  • Slum Development: Rs 696 crore has been allocated to give basic amenities in slums and JJ colonies.

  • Water and Sanitation: Rs 9,000 crore has been allotted by the government to provide clean drinking water and sanitation facilities throughout the capital. Rs 250 crore is also being allocated for the renewal of aged sewer pipes.

  • Yamuna Cleaning Project: Rs 500 crore will be provided to clean the Yamuna River and 40 new sewage treatment plants will be installed.

  • Public Safety: More than 50,000 new CCTV cameras will be installed throughout Delhi to improve women’s security and overall security.

  • Education and Digital Learning: Rs 100 crore has been invested in the setting up of 175 new computer labs and smart classes in government schools.

  • Tourism and Branding: Rs 117 crore will be utilized in tourism and branding efforts to promote Delhi as a city of international standards.

  • Economic Development: The government will organize a ‘Global Investment Summit’ every two years to bring investors to the capital.

  • Food and Public Services: Rs 100 crore has been provided to establish 100 Atal Canteens in Delhi to offer affordable food to people.

  • Capital Expenditure: The government has earmarked Rs 28,000 crore for capital spending in Delhi for long-term infrastructure and economic development.

    This Budget marks the first presented by a BJP-led government in Delhi in over 26 years, emphasizing major infrastructure improvements, economic growth, and social welfare measures to transform the national capital.
