‘Ghoomer’ Starring Saiyami Kher & Abhishek Bachchan Chosen for Uzbekistan Women’s Day Film Festival

Saiyami Kher's award-winning film 'Ghoomer' was selected for screening in the Uzbekistan Film Festival, Tashkent, where it marked the occasion of International Women's Day with uplifting women-centric films.

New Delhi, March 19, 2025 — The Indian Embassy in Tashkent recently hosted a grand Film Festival on the occasion of International Womens Daybringing to the fore women-centric films that feature strong female protagonists and their contributions to society. Among the highlights of the films showcased, Saiyami kher’s highly acclaimed film ‘Ghoomer’ was given special attention with a special premiere at the high-profile event.

Saiyami Kher, who delivered a critically acclaimed performance in R Balki’s ‘Ghoomer’, was present at the festival to commemorate this honour. The film, which tells the story of a determined differently-abled sportsperson overcoming obstacles to achieve her dreams, continues to resonate with audiences worldwide, even a year and a half after its release.
Speaking about the experience, Saiyami expressed her gratitude:

The Tashkent festival did not only celebrate International Womens Day but also reflected the shared cultural affinities and goodwill between India and Uzbekistan based on the cinematographic medium.
