Myanmar earthquake: 7.7 magnitude quake hits India’s neighbour; tremors felt in Bangkok

Strong shaking in Myanmar: In the greater Bangkok area of the metropolis, Thailand, with a population of over 17 million people, many people also felt the tremors.

A magnitude 7.7 earthquake hit central Myanmar on Friday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said. The center for geosciences in Germany, GFZ says that the earth tremor at midday is a shallow one of 10 kilometer and was caused by the epicenter in the neighbor country, Myanmar.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. The seismic epicenter of the quake was in central Myanmar, nearly 50 kilometers (30 miles) to the east of the city of Monywa.
