Navi Mumbai, March 27: In a shocking incident of child abduction, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl was abducted in daylight on Tuesday from the Devicha Pada region of Taloja village. The abducted child, Harshika Sharma, was abducted by an unknown person while playing in front of her house. A massive search poeration has been initiated by the Taloja police to find the child and the culprit.
Incident Details
The police said the incident took place at about 12:30 PM on Tuesday when Harshika was playing in the shared passage of Mauli Krupa Building, where she resided with her parents and elder brother. Her mother, who was standing nearby, had stepped inside their house for a while. But when she came out, she could not find her daughter anywhere.
“The girl’s brother was present at school, and her father, who works in a fabrication firm at Ambernath, was present at work during the time of the occurrence. Though there were almost 30 flats in the two storeyed complex, no one among the tenants reported seeing anything unusual,” said Police Sub-Inspector Meena Varhade from Taloja Police Station.
Family‘s Search and Police Investigation
When the family discovered that Harshika was missing, they went looking in the surrounding regions but could not find her. With their search yielding nothing, they went to the Taloja Police Station on Tuesday night and lodged a kidnapping complaint officially.
The authorities have been busy since then questioning people living around there and working out leads. Yet, as of now, no CCTV video capturing the incident has been detected, and that is complicating the investigation process.
Police Appeal and Next Steps
The police have also appealed to residents and shopkeepers in the area to scan their CCTV cameras for any shots of suspicious movement and appealed to the public for information that might be of assistance in tracking the missing child.
“We are giving this case our highest priority. Our teams are going full steam to do search operations and cross-verify every possible angle,” a Taloja police senior officer said.
The accident has left Devicha Pada residents shocked and terrorized, sparking fears of child safety in the region. The police have ensured that all measures are being taken to find Harshika and asked citizens to provide any pertinent information immediately.
