Rana Sanga Row: Samajwadi Party MP’s Agra Home Witnessed Violence, Cops Injured

The altercation was over the comments made by the Rajya Sabha MP - that the 16th century Rajput king Rana Sanga was a "traitor" as he had invited Babur to India.

Lucknow:

Shocking scenes were seen outside Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman’s Agra residence Wednesday after activists of a right-wing outfit – Karni Sena – attempted to break in and, when prevented by the police, turned violent against the policeleading to a lathi charge.

The violence was triggered by inflammatory remarks by the Rajya Sabha MP – that the 16th century Rajput ruler, Rana Sanga, was a “traitor” as he had invited Babur, the founder of the Mughal empire, to then India. He claimed his comments were based on facts in Babur’s memoir, the ‘Baburnama’

Images shared by news agency ANI showed a small army of cops struggling to keep back the right-wing mob, some of whom were waving saffron flags and sticks and shouting slogans.

The video captured one confrontation on what appeared to be a main road, on which police were fighting to put up metal barricades between them and the rowdy crowd, but this collapses within seconds.
