Meerut, March 19:
In a horrific murder that has sent Uttar Pradesh‘s Meerut reeling, a man was allegedly killed by his wife and her boyfriend, who then sealed his severed body inside a plastic drum filled with cement, police authorities confirmed on Wednesday.
The victim, who is Saurabh Rajput, had also recently come back from London and was sharing his flat with his wife Muskan Rastogi and their five-year-old daughter. The two got married in 2016 through a love marriage and had been staying in a rented property for the last three years.
The police sources say that Saurabh was last spotted on March 4, the day he was allegedly killed. Under interrogation, Muskan and her boyfriend Sahil Shukla admitted to sedating Saurabh with his food, stabbing him to death, and then chopping up his body. The next day, the pair bought a huge plastic drum, cement, and sand from the neighborhood market and hid the remains in the drum at their home.
Shockingly, after the murder, Muskan and Sahil reportedly went on a vacation to a hill station, sending deceptive messages from Saurabh’s phone to his family to avoid suspicion.
The killing was revealed after Muskan’s mother tipped off the police, disclosing her daughter‘s astounding confession. At the time of arrest, both accused took the police to the spot where the drum was kept. Because the cement had hardened, police were forced to take the drum to the mortuary, where it was opened and Saurabh‘s body recovered.
Meerut City SP Ayush Vikram has confirmed the crime, saying, “Both Muskan and Sahil accepted to have killed Saurabh and dumped his body in a cement-filled drum. A case has been registered, and further investigation is on.”
Neighbours assembled in big groups outside the residence as police recovered the drum. The body has been taken for post-mortem.
