“We won’t negotiate—do whatever you want,” says Iran’s President to Trump.

Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stated on Saturday that Tehran would not be pressured into negotiations, following Trump's claim that he had sent a letter urging Iran to discuss a new nuclear deal.

Iran Rejects US Negotiations Amid Escalating Tensions

Tehran, March 12, 2025: Iran has strongly rejected negotiations with the United States under threat, with President Masoud Pezeshkian brushing aside ultimatums from former US President Donald Trump. In response to rising tensions, Iran has also stepped up its uranium enrichment program, further heating up the geopolitical confrontation.

Pezeshkian’s Defiant Response to Trump

Addressing a public gathering on Tuesday, Iranian state media stated that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian categorically said Iran would never negotiate with the US under duress. Responding directly to Trump’s ultimatum, Pezeshkian told *”It is unacceptable for us that they (the US) issue orders and threaten us. I won’t even negotiate with you. Do whatever the hell you want.

This forceful reaction comes in the wake of reports that Trump had written a letter calling on Tehran to sit down and discuss a new nuclear deal, something that Iran has summarily dismissed.

Iran Increases Uranium Enrichment

While tensions are on the rise diplomatically, Iran has stepped up the pace of uranium enrichment, giving the impression of resistance to American demands. Iran’s leaders explained that their nuclear progress is the direct result of sustained US pressure and sanctions and insisted that the program remains within the purview of national security interests and remains peaceful.

The move to increase uranium enrichment capacity has raised alarm among global observers, with the concern that the development would result in more instability in the Middle East.

Geopolitical Implications

The new developments are adding to the already tense relations between Tehran and Washington. While the Biden administration had earlier called for diplomatic talks, Trump’s new calls for negotiations have been flatly rejected by Iran. The world is on high alert as tensions rise, with major players calling for restraint to prevent further conflict.

What Lies Ahead?

With Iran refusing to yield under US pressure and continuing its nuclear advancements, the situation remains unpredictable. Diplomatic efforts by global powers may become crucial in de-escalating tensions and preventing further deterioration of US-Iran relations.

As the geopolitical landscape shifts, the world watches closely to see how the US and Iran navigate this high-stakes confrontation.
