“When Life Gives You Lemons…”: Kunal Kamra’s Sarcastic Roast of Anand Mahindra Goes Viral!
Political Leaders Respond: Fadnavis Seeks Apology, Thackeray Supports Kamra

Stand-up comic Kunal Kamra makes a crack at Anand Mahindra‘s social media life, unleashing another viral moment. At the same time, controversy surrounding his sarcasm on Eknath Shinde heats up with political criticism and theatre vandalism.
New Delhi, March 28, 2025 – Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, who was already in the middle of a controversy for his imitation of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has gone viral again on social media this time for his cutting remark about industrialist Anand Mahindra.
In a viral clip, Kamra taunted Mahindra‘s Twitter activity, claiming, “Anand Mahindra bhi buddha hai (Anand Mahindra is also old). He tweets on all things—thermodynamics, marine biology, radioactivity—save for how to make his own cars better.” The comedian continued to mock Mahindra‘s visits to AI conferences, pretending sarcastic invites were misread as real enthusiasm.
Kamra also aimed at Mahindra‘s positivity in a time of crisis, remembering one episode in which the businessman posted a video of kids having fun on a double-decker bus riding through Mumbai floods under the caption, “When life gives you lemons.“ The comedian mocked the attitude, suggesting that such optimism belittles actual misery.
Political Fallout Over Kamra‘s Comedy
Kamra‘s latest viral moment is in the context of an ongoing controversy regarding his show at the Habitat Comedy Club in Khar, Mumbai. His take on Eknath Shinde led to a backlash, with it reaching a point where a breach of privilege notice was submitted by BJP MLA Pravin Darekar, charging Kamra with using “personal and insulting references” against the deputy CM.
A parody song sung on January 3 surfaced months later and triggered violent consequences. The Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) supporters attacked both the comedy club and the hotel where the event took place, fueling tensions.
Political Leaders React
As the furore grows, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has asked for an apology from Kamra. Oppositely, opposition leader Uddhav Thackeray has supported the comedian, denouncing the violence against the venue.
Undeterred by the furore, Kamra joined social media, putting up a photo with the Indian Constitution with the caption “The only way forward.” a veiled but sharp rebuke of his detractors.
And while the arguments over political satire, free speech, and celebrities rage on, Kamra‘s recent comments about Mahindra add another page to his increasingly long list of hot-footed controversies.
