19-year-old man rapes and murders minor girl before dumping body in window duct in Thane, arrested
Locals found the body of a partially clothed girl in the bathroom window duct in a building in the Thakurpada area of Mumbra on Monday night.
The Thane police on Tuesday arrested a 19-year-old man on charges of raping and killing a minor girl in Mumbra. The offence was revealed after the locals heard a noise from a window duct and found a girl‘s body, which he allegedly pushed from the other side.
The locals discovered the body of a partially clothed girl when they inspected the duct from the bathroom of a first-floor flat in the building in the Thakurpada area around 11 pm on Monday, the police said.
Acting on a tip-off from the locals, a team of police arrived at the location and were able to remove the girl’s body with the help of the fire brigade.
The police first submitted an accidental death report. Once the postmortem report stated that the girl was raped and murdered, they filed a rape and murder case. A girl who was playing with the victim informed the police that she was tricked by a man to give her toys and that he took her to the building where the body was recovered.
On her description, the police began picking up suspects and caught the accused, who is Asif Mansoori, from the sixth floor of the building. The other girl recognized him as the man who had enticed her friend, the police informed, adding that he had owned up to the crime after prolonged interrogation.
The police added that certain attire of the girl was discovered where Mansoori resided. He is from Bihar and had traveled to Mumbra to work, an officer added.
