4 Dead, Dozens Feared Trapped After Building Collapse In Delhi’s Mustafabad
The four-storey building collapsed at about 3 am, after which rescue operations including the teams of the NDRF and Delhi Fire Services were initiated.

New Delhi:
A minimum of four individuals died and 14 were rescued when a four-storey building collapsed early on Saturday in Delhi’s Mustafabad area, with many others reported to be trapped under the wreckage, an official stated.
The accident occurred around 3 am after which the rescue efforts involving National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, Delhi Fire Services, and Delhi Police were initiated, senior police officer Sandeep Lamba added.
“14 individuals have been saved and four have passed away. Around 8-10 individuals are still believed to be trapped,” Mr Lamba said in the news agency ANI.
Regarding the cause of collapse, Mr Lamba replied that they will ascertain it.
The injured are being shifted to the GTB hospital.
“Pancake Collapse, Chances Of Survival Minimal”
It was termed a “pancake collapse” by an official, in which, he stated, the possibilities of survival are “minimal”.
“Nevertheless, we hope there are lives to be salvaged and are putting in every effort. Debris is being removed gradually and carefully examined,” NDRF’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mohsen Shahidi said to the news agency PTI.
He added that operating in such crowded spaces is “extremely difficult”.
“The clearance of debris with the help of heavy machinery is only possible to a limited extent because of the lack of space,” Mr Shahidi said.
CCTV Captures Moment When Delhi Building Collapsed
A CCTV camera in a nearby alley has caught the moment the building in Mustafabad collapsed.
The video revealed a quick spark and a dense cloud of dust covering the alley, halting any more recording.
Divisional Fire Officer Rajendra Atwal said they got a call regarding the accident around 2:50 am.
“We went to the location and realized that the whole building had caved in, and individuals were trapped under the wreckage. The NDRF and Delhi Fire Services are making efforts to rescue the individuals,” he added.
The incident of the collapse of houses occurred hours after Delhi experienced heavy showers with gusty winds and storms.
A week ago, a wall of a building under construction fell in a high-speed dust storm close to Madhu Vihar, killing one person and injuring two others.
In another incident on Saturday, five family members were killed after a house collapsed during a storm in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut.
