Sushmita Sen’s Brother Rajeev Speaks Up About Former Wife Charu Asopa’s Financial Crisis: “She Could Afford A Cruise Trip

Charu Asopa married Rajeev Sen in 2019, but their relationship soon took a turbulent course and ended up in divorce later

New Delhi:

TV actress Charu Asopa, who had earlier been married to Sushmita Sen’s brother Rajeev Sen, is in the news for selling clothes online. Charu, who is financially struggling, has left Mumbai and returned to her hometown Bikaner in Rajasthan along with her daughter Ziana.

Now, Rajeev Sen has responded to Charu’s change of career and also spoke about how she is keeping their child away from him.

“Charu has perfected the art of keeping my daughter away from me. But I actually feel sorry for Ziana because she’s the one who is losing out. I last met Ziana this January. I’m sure she’s missing me as much as I’m missing her,” Rajeev said to Hindustan Times.

He went on, “When I was in Delhi on work, I phoned Charu to inquire if I could visit Bikaner to meet Ziana, but I received no answer. Now she’s saying ‘he is most welcome to visit Bikaner and he has every right to meet her.’ I don’t think I have any rights, unfortunately—particularly when I’ve gone out of my way and received silence back. What else can I do?”

When asked whether he knew about Charu Asopa’s online clothing store, Rajeev Sen replied that he is glad she is working hard and attempting to earn. But he also questioned his former wife’s claims of financial difficulties.

Rajeev Sen stated, “She was able to spend a cruise trip with her brother and his wife—which is quite costly—and she paid for all their tickets. Where does this money struggle come in?”

“She’s in the process of purchasing a house in Bikaner—or perhaps already has—costing serious money. Even with a loan, property purchase is not inexpensive. And if she’s running cruises and her normal shopping—as evident from her daily vlogs—it quite clearly indicates that she’s not short of money. Anyone actually in financial distress wouldn’t even think of purchasing property,” he said.

Taking a dig at Charu for turning their lives into a public spectacle, Rajeev stated, “The difference between me and Charu is that I don’t call the media every day to weep about a midlife crisis. I won’t display my bank statements or talk about who gave what—money should never be talked about publicly, which she’s made into YouTube content. I really feel sorry for her.”

“We’re all worried about Ziana.”. We need Charu to be stable in her mind and emotions, not speaking to the media daily. You’ve witnessed it—she’s fine on vacations with me, like in Dubai, and then turns around like that. If she believes I’m a bad father or a bad human being, fine. I don’t care. People who really know me know what I am. She’s just damaging her own reputation, having as much in life,” Rajeev Sen added while sharing his concern regarding their daughter.

Rajeev Sen finished by mentioning how he had suggested Charu Asopa think about coming back. He mentioned, “Even last month, I told her—come home, give our child a chance. Not that we need to get married again, but at least she’ll have her own house, her own space.”. But I don’t know what’s happening in her head. Perhaps too many people are dictating to her, but eventually, she has to take control and think long term about what’s really best for her and for Ziana.”

Earlier, Charu Asopa spoke about why she chose to quit Mumbai and how her ex-husband Rajeev Sen reacted to her new plans. Click here to read the complete story.
