There has been a large fire at the Petronas gas pipeline in Malaysia, hitting 33 people.

The explosion of a gas pipeline in Puchong on a large scale affected 33 people, and six of them were taken to the hospital. The rescued work is done in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru. Petronas has shut down the pipeline and closed the valve to prevent further damage, while the fire department is trying to establish the cause of the explosion.

According to authorities, on Tuesday, a fire occurred at a gas pipeline of Petronas, an energy company from Malaysia, located on the periphery of Kuala Lumpur, which resulted in injuring 33 people.

Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail, the head of the Selangor fire department informed AstroAwani that six of those injured, were brought to the hospital.

Operations to try to quench the fire are still underway. Several people are still in their homes in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru and the search and rescue proceed, Selangor Disaster Management Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi reported to Bernama, the report said in a state news agency.

Petronas in a statement said the pipeline had been isolated. Chief fire officer of the Selangor fire department, Razib Saidin, said the houses were set on fire because of the oil spill. News carried the images and shared the video of a huge fire on social media where the sky was red and yellow with smoke pouring out.

More… A big fire emerged from a crack in the 500 meters (about 1,640 feet) long pipeline in the town of Puchong, the department said in a statement, announcing that the Petronas has already closed the valve on the burning pipeline. The fire department stated they were probing the fire which was reported to have been on the premises of a residential area.
