Army Reveals How 6 Terrorists Were Killed In 2 Operations In J&K

While the Tral operation was in elevated terrain in a wooded area, the Pulwama operation was on comparatively level ground in the village.

New Delhi:

The Indian Army in two
different operations successfully eliminated six terrorists in 48 hours in extreme different kinds of terrain in Jammu and Kashmir, senior officers informed journalists today.

One of the terrorists was also involved in the murder of a sarpach in the Union Territory in March.

“Wherever the terrorists take shelter, we will track them down and neutralise them,” Major General Dhananjay Joshi, GOC V Force, said to the media.

He added that the army received information on May 12 about a possible presence of a group of terrorists in the higher reaches in Kelar.

The security forces challenged the terrorists the following morningwhen they saw some movement, and they opened fire in response, he said, adding the threat was soon neutralised by the security forces.

The second Tral operation was carried out in a border village.

“As we were cordoning off this village, terrorists had taken positions in various houses and started firing at us. At that moment, the issue we were dealing with was to evacuate the civilian villagers. Three terrorists were then neutralised. One of the six terrorists neutralised, Shahid Kutte, was responsible for two serious attacks, one of which was an attack on a German tourist. He was also involved in sponsoring activities,” Major General Joshji added.

During Tral operation, conducted on hard terrain, three terrorists were killed by the army, the officers including from Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) informed in today’s briefing.

Three terrorists were detected hiding in a village in Pulwama, and after evacuating all civilians, an operation was initiated by the army.

Though the Tral operation was on higher terrain in a forest area, the Pulwama operation took place on fairly flat ground in the village.

The army added that they neutralized three terrorists in the village of Pulwama.

The three terrorists who were killed in Pulwama were members of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). They are Asif Ahmed Sheikh, Amir Nazir Wani, and Yawar Ahmed Bhat.

The successful counter-terror operations are during the ongoing Operation Sindoor, a doctrinal shift in the way India is tackling terrorists. India has indicated it would attack the center of terror wherever they exist.
