China’s Response After India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ Strikes in Pakistan and PoK

Beijing calls for calm and de-escalation from both sides after Indian military action.

China on Wednesday urged restraint from both India and Pakistan, raising concern over the rising tensions after Indian troops‘ “Operation Sindoor” against terror camps along the border on early Wednesday morning.

In a statement released by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Beijing statedChina regrets Indias military actions this morning and is concerned about the current situation. China opposes all types of terrorism. We urge both India and Pakistan to prioritize peace and stability, keep calm and restrained, and refrain from taking actions that further complicate the situation.”

The remark followed Indian military forces launching coordinated missile attacks on nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in response to April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 dead.

The Indian strikes are said to have targeted Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba‘s major infrastructuresuch as JeM’s Bahawalpur stronghold and LeT’s Muridke base. The operation was termed precise and preemptive and is significant counter-terror action by New Delhi.

After the strikes, Pakistani military resumed heavy shelling in various border districts in Jammu and Kashmir, heightening tensions along the Line of Control (LoC). The global community, including the United Nations, is keeping a close watch on the situation, calling both countries to remain away from further military escalation.

India’s Defence Ministry stated the move was a direct response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that resulted in 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali national killed and several others wounded.

In its release, the Ministry of Defence said, “A short while ago, the Indian Armed Forces conducted ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks on India have been conceived and orchestrated.”

“Our responses have been targetedproportionate and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military installations have been hit. India has shown high levels of restraint in target selection and method of delivery,” it added.

Indian military effectively targeted nine terror hideouts, four in Pakistan and five in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), with special precision ammunition as part of a coordinated operation. The operation was carried out in collaboration by Indian Army, Navy, and Indian Air Force by mobilizing the troops and assets. Prime Minister Narendra Modi monitored Operation Sindoor continuously throughout the night, said sources.
