GGM Metro: Eight Firms Bid for ₹1,286 Crore Project
Gurugram Metro Tender Attracts Eight Bids from Reputed Infrastructure Firms for ₹1,286 Crore Project

Gurugram: The first phase of the Gurugram Metro project, from Millennium City Centre to the Dwarka Expressway, saw a good response from top infrastructure firms when its tender was issued. Eight prominent companies have placed their bids for the ₹1,286 crore project, GMRL officials said, which are now to be examined for technical compliance.
GMRL officials, who opened the bids on Thursday, vouched for the receipt of bids from these eight companies. The company will now go in for a technical examination at length before reaching the financial evaluation phase. GMRL Managing Director and CEO Chander Shekhar Khare sounded hopeful about the competitive bidding process as he said, “We have received a very positive response from eight reputed construction companies, which will lead to healthy competition.“. The second step will be technical and financial assessment of the bids, which will be done on a priority basis.
Khare further stated that although the contract award process continues, attempts are being made to coordinate with local authorities of Gurugram for shifting of utilities and widening of roads along the metro corridor, particularly for the first phase. The special purpose vehicle of the Haryana government, GMRL, floated the tender on March 8.
The first phase work comprises laying 15.22 km of metro rail viaduct, 15 stations, 1.85 km spur towards Dwarka Expressway, and a ramp connected to the proposed depot in Sector 33. The stations proposed under this phase are Millennium City Centre (which will interchange with the existing DMRC station), Sector 45, Cyber Park (Sector 46), Sector 47, Subhash Chowk, Sector 48, Sector 33, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar Phase 6, Sector 10, Sector 37, Basai, Sector 9, and Sector 101.
Officials further added that the metro work will be done in three phases. The second phase would comprise the setting up of 13 stations from Sector-9 to DLF Cyber City, and tendering for it is likely to take place shortly. The third phase would see the creation of a metro depot in Sector 33, where HSVP has already set aside 30 acres of land to GMRL, but transfer of another 5 acres awaits.
In all, the Gurugram Metro project is moving apace, with the first phase of it poised to improve connectivity within the city and pave the way for expansion in the future.
