Dance Instructor Held for Alleged Sexual Abuse of Minor at Summer Camp
In a shocking case, a 45-year-old dance instructor, Jitendra Dulani, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly sexually abusing a three-year-old boy at a summer camp in Ulhasnagar. The case has caused concern among parents and officials regarding the safety of children at such camps.
In police reports, it is estimated that some 20 children from the neighborhood attended the two-day summer camp held by Dulani. The three-year-old boy revealed to his parents that during the break of the camp, Dulani had taken him to a dark room where he was sexually assaulted.The parents observed physical discomfort on returning home and, when questioned gently, the boy spoke about the immoral behavior of the teacher.
After the disclosure by the child, the parents approached the Vitthalwadi police with a complaint. Police officers moved quickly under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sachin Gore, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Amol Koli, and Senior Police Inspector (PI) Anil Padwal to conduct a midnight raid at the home of Dulani. The accused was detained and subsequently produced before a court, where he was remanded into police custody for five days.
Offices are currently in the process of recording statements from other kids who were at the camp to check whether any other kids faced similar abuse or underwent any unpleasant moments.The police have confirmed they are taking the issue very seriously to do justice and avoid such occurrences in the future.
The incident has raised a storm of anxiety among parents and community people, questioning the necessity for stringent safety protocols and keen surveillance in children’s activities.
