Tension High: Explosive Found in Amritsar Field, Neutralized by Army

Indian Army safely detonates unexploded ordnance in Amritsar village amid heightened alert following Pakistan's drone and missile attacks across multiple Indian cities.

New Delhi, May 9:
A day after Pakistan’s intensified offensive with drones, missiles, and artillery fire across India’s border areas, the Indian Army safely defused an unexploded ordnance discovered in a field in Punjab’s Amritsar district, triggering new fears of cross-border threats.

A bomb was found in Makhan Windy village prompting an immediate security reaction. Army bomb squads, assisted by Punjab Police, rushed to the site and quickly evacuated a two-kilometre radius, taking care to clear civilians from the area before safely defusing the bomb.

A dramatic clip of the controlled explosion features a huge cloud of black mud and smoke tossed several meters into the air, highlighting the possible magnitude of destruction if it had exploded in a populated zone. The authorities have not confirmed if the ordnance was Pakistani-made or an Indian explosive utilized in recent counter-offensive operations.

Fresh Cross-Border Escalation

The find is made at a time of increased vigil along India’s western borders after a second wave of attacks by Pakistan late on Thursday night. Pakistani troops allegedly attacked strategic points in Jammu, RS Pura, Arnia, Pathankot, and Samba with drones and missile attacks, leading India to put full-spectrum air defence systems on alert.

Air raid warnings were activated in a number of districts including Amritsar, Pathankot, Abohar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, and Mohali. In Jaisalmer of Rajasthan, measures to blackout were enforced due to reported explosions around areas close to the military areas.

The strikes are apparently an eye-for-an-eye retaliatory strike following India’s Operation Sindoor a simultaneous precision strike mission that took place last week targeting terror installations within Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

India’s Countermeasures and Defence Achievements

India effectively countered the incursion attempts. Defence sources reveal that India utilized its Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Grid and S-400 missile defence systems to down and destroy incoming drones and missileThe S-400, globally one of the most advanced air defence systems, effectively destroyed multiple targets in flight.

In another landmark strategic shift, India was alleged to have grounded a Pakistani air defence station at Lahore by applying precision drone missiles, HARPY drones used specifically to seek out and eliminate radar systems owned by the enemy.

Escalation Continues

Despite further investigations regarding where the ordnance had its origin at Amritsar, security around Punjab remains strong along the borders. Civilians were advised to maintain alertness while air defence alert measures were yet to be disengaged.

This growth underscores the growing menace of indirect war and the use of drone and missile technology in local conflicts. The situation continues to be in flux, with security agencies alert to avert further escalation.
