31 people arrested in 18 cybercrime cases and ₹1.2 crore given back to the victims

Cyberabad police arrested 31 individuals involved in 18 fraud cases from July 22 to 28. The majority were linked to trading frauds that promised unrealistic returns, while nine were arrested for forming a gang and conspiring to commit cybercrimes. Three were related to part-time job offers, two each with ‘digital arrest’ frauds, fake customer care, malicious gaming apps, and vishing frauds, and one related to fake loan disbursals. Police seized items such as cars, laptops, mobile phones, checkbooks, SIM cards, and ₹82,500 in cash. They also secured 283 refund orders in 60 cases, allowing a total of ₹1.2 crore to be returned to defrauded individuals. The police issued a public advisory urging citizens to remain cautious while engaging in online financial transactions, verify communication sources, and report fraud promptly. Victims or witnesses are encouraged to report incidents by calling the national helpline 1930.
