Reports say that 155 passengers have been rescued by security forces, with at least 27 militants confirmed to be killed so far. The operation is still underway as authorities continue to secure the safety of the remaining hostages and eliminate any remaining threats.

Government’s Response and Public Reaction

The Pakistani government has denounced the hijacking as an act of terrorism meant to destabilize the region. The authorities have promised to take firm action against the hijackers, ensuring that the perpetrators of the attack are brought to justice.

The attack has raised alarm across the country, with most demanding increased security measures on railway networks and more effective counterterrorism approaches. The Balochistan region has been plagued by insurgency violence, and this recent attack only highlights the chronic security issues besetting the region.

What Lies Ahead?

As security personnel move to rescue the other hostages, tensions still exist. The authorities have assured the public that everything in their power is being done to end the crisis without loss of life. More details are due as the rescue mission continues.

This hijacking constitutes one of the most severe acts of insurgency in recent Pakistani history, and its consequences will very likely trigger a re-examination of national security policies, especially in regards to railway security and counter-terrorist measures in Balochistan.
