Mumbai,March 17 : It is a stunning instance of online fraud where a Mumbai woman has lost more than Rs 20 crore after she got a spurious call claiming misuse of her Aadhaar card. The woman, sources said, was approached by people saying they had access to her Aadhaar details which had been hacked, and in a hurry, she took certain steps that eventually resulted in her losing a huge amount of money.
The government has initiated a probe into the scam, advising the public to be extra careful with unsolicited calls for personal financial data. During the course of the investigation, authorities call on citizens to check the authenticity of such communications and report any suspicious incidents on the spot.
