The curfew is in force within police station boundaries in Kotwali, Ganeshpeth, Tehsil, Lakadganj, Pachpaoli, Shantinagar, Sakkardara, Nandanvan, Imamwada, Yashodharanagar, and Kapilnagar. The police have put a “communication ban (curfew)” in place in affected areas under Section 163 to avoid further clashes and ensure peace.

Also, instructions are issued to ban spreading any sort of rumour, banning doing all such things,” the order stated. The police have been empowered to seal roads in the affected areas to ensure law and order.

Anyone who defies the curfew “remains punishable under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).” The order, however, specifies that it “will not be applicable to police officers/employees on duty as well as government/administrative officers/employees, students appearing for essential services, and persons related to the fire brigade and various departments.”
