Doctors Save 15-Year-Old Girl by Removing 8 kg Ovarian Cyst in Complex Surgery
Government Maharaja Tukojirao Hospital, [Location]—In a medical miracle, doctors at a government hospital removed an ovarian cyst weighing around eight kilograms from a 15-year-old girl, bringing her back to health after a complicated surgery.
The teenage patient had been suffering from severe breathing problems, pain in the abdomen, and other alarming symptoms prior to visiting the hospital. Gynecologist Dr. Sumitra Yadav, who was the head of the surgical team, explained that during examination, a large cyst was found in the girl’s ovary.
“Cysts are sac-like structures that can close over anywhere in the body and contain semi-solid material, fluid, or even air,” explained Dr. Yadav.
The surgery was performed on March 28 and lasted for three hours. “We were shocked to see the size of the cyst when it was removed. It weighed about eight kg,” she added. Prior to the surgery, the girl’s total body weight, including the cyst, was 39 kg.
Luckily, the health of the girl has greatly improved after the surgery. “Her condition is perfectly all right now.If the cyst was not removed, her life could have been endangered,” said Dr. Yadav. A sample of tissue from the cyst has been sent for histopathology to determine whether it was cancerous.
The successful surgery not only indicates the expertise of the medical team within the hospital but also highlights the importance of having immediate medical interventions in life-and-death situations. The girl’s family is in relief and thankful to the surgeons for their struggle to save the girl’s life.
