Palghar Tension After Eggs Thrown at Ram Navami Rally, Police File Case
Some unknown individuals allegedly hurled eggs on a Ram Navami motorbike rally in the Virar region of Palghar, resulting in temporary tension; police have filed a case and arrested a person for interrogation.

Tension momentarily broke out in Maharashtra‘s Palghar district on Sunday following unknown individuals throwing eggs at participants of a motorbike rally that was held on the day of Ram Navami, said the police.Theaccident took place near Pimpleshwar Temple at Global City in Virar (West) where the rally being conducted by the Sakal Hindu Samaj — was proceeding after beginning from the Sarveshwar Temple in Chikhaldongri. The procession consisting of 100 to 150 motorbikes, a ceremonial chariot, and two tempos witnessed heavy presence of local citizens.
Cops say a few riders who had deviated to a side street were targeted by eggs that are reportedly hurled from a nearby building, inciting the wrath of the devotees and causing a brief spell of unrest. Bolinj police station staff immediately arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control within a matter of minutes.
The authorities have filed a case against unknown individuals under sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for public mischief and causing religious sentiments. A person has been arrested for interrogation, officials confirmed.

Police have beefed up security in the area and requested the people to maintain calm. They also requested citizens to avoid posting unverified information on social media that might further heighten tensions.
Investigation on the incident is underway.
