10 Days Before Wedding Of Daughter, UP Woman Elopes With Would-Be Son-In-Law

The would-be bride mentioned that her mother also stole all the money and jewellery at home.

Aligarh:

Shivani had to get married in 10 days’ time. The invites were prepared and relatives were also invited. This was followed by a shocking turn of events – her mother went missing along with her prospective husband.

The grieving bride-to-be, from a village coming under the Madrak police station of Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh, added her mother Anita did not only run away with her would-be husband but also withdrew all the ready cash – in excess of Rs 3.5 lakh – and jewelry – valued in excess of Rs 5 lakh – that were lying at home.

“I was to get married to Rahul on April 16, and my mother ran off with him on Sunday. Rahul and my mother used to spend hours on the phone with each other for the last three or four months. We had Rs 3.5 lakh in cash in the almirah and jewellery that cost more than Rs 5 lakh. She has done whatever he told him to. She has left not even Rs 10. My mother has pocketed all our money,” Shivani said.

“She can do whatever she likes now, we don’t mind. All we want is that the money and jewellery should be returned to us,” he added.

Shivani’s father, Jitendra Kumar, said he owns a business in Bengaluru and had heard that Anita had been conversing with her would-be son-in-law for hours continuously, but chose not to comment as the wedding was to be held soon

He has now filed a missing persons report for his wife.

“That man would not talk to my daughter but would continue talking to my wife. I stay in Bengaluru to manage my business. I had heard that, for the last three months, they would converse with each other for 22 hours a day. I was suspicious but did not utter a word because the wedding was near. Anita left with the man on April 6 and stole all our cash and jewellery,” said Mr Kumar.

“I called Anita a few times, but she had turned off her phone. I called the man as well, but he denied constantly that she was with him. Hours went by before he finally told me that I had bothered my wife for 20 years and that I should leave her alone. Their phones were turned off after that,” he furthered.

Mr Kumar added that he has lodged a complaint for a missing persons case and the police have assured him they will trace Anita and Rahul in a while.

A police officer from the Madrak police station stated, “A missing person report was given. We have registered a case and initiated an investigation. The required action will be taken.”
