Mumbai : Bollywood icon Akshay Kumar appealed to the crowd emotionally during the grand premiere of his next historical drama ‘Kesari: Chapter 2’ in Delhi on April 15. The actor requested audiences to keep their phones aside during the screening, highlighting the movie’s emotional quotient and historical significance.
“I request you all, kindly keep your phones in your pocket and pay attention to every line of dialogue in this movie. It will matter a lot,” Kumar implored the gathering at the houseful theatre in Chanakyapuri, Delhi. “If you attempt to check your Instagram while watching the movie, it will be embarrassing for the movie,” he went on, connecting with fans and attendees everywhere.
The much-awaited film, based on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre backdrop, conducted its special screening before the April 18 release in theaters. The Delhi premiere became a big-ticket event with many political officials and ministers gracing the event.
Other notable guests present were Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Minister Anurag Thakur. Actor R. Madhavan, who also appears in the movie, accompanied Akshay Kumar in greeting the guests.

“Salute to @akshaykumar & @ActorMadhavan for bringing alive the bravery of Adv. Sankaran Nair… Kesari Chapter 2 not only pays homage to his legacy but also takes the courage to reveal the dark pages of Congress’s history.”
In another post, Sirsa connected the themes of the film to the past and political history, drawing parallels with the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and criticizing the Congress party’s past approach.
