Punjab on high alert after Pahalgam terror attack

The Chief Minister informed that security has been tightened in the state and stringent vigil is being maintained throughout Punjab to ensure no one breaks the law.

A day after the Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir, Punjab has been placed on high alert to give top priority to uphold law and order in the State.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, on Wednesday (April 23, 2025), following a high-level meeting with civil and police administration officersstated the State is in heightened vigil and putting maximum priority towards upholding law and order in Punjab.

He stated that the incident has again proven that the terrorists have no religion and their only objective is to create terror among the masses. The Chief Minister stated that security has been enhanced in the state and strict vigil is being maintained throughout Punjab to ensure that nobody breaks the law.

He stated that the Punjab Police is fully capable of thwarting any such attempt, and there is perfect coordination being ensured between the Army, BSF and the Punjab Police.

He stated that tourist areas have been secured in Punjab and that the state shares its border with Pakistan and Jammu & Kashmir and thus the State is on the lookout and there is an eagle eye kept out for anti-national forces. The Chief Minister mentioned that the borders of the state have already been closed and the cops have been put on a red alert.

BJP workers and BJP leaders and members of Congress organised parallel protests in Chandigarh against the terrorist attack. Vijay Rupani, who is Punjab BJP In-charge and former Gujarat CM, mentioned that the criminals would be made an example that their generations in future would think a hundred times before casting a wrong eye upon India.

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, described the terror attack as a direct attack on the unity and integrity of the nationToday, all of us, regardless of our political beliefs and ideologies, unite to vanquish the dastardly plans of the enemy“, he stated.
