India Destroys Pak Post Across LoC with Precision Anti-Tank Missile
Indian Army targets and demolishes several Pakistani posts across LoC with Anti-Tank Guided Missiles as retaliation for fatal terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir.

New Delhi, May 9:
In a swift and calculated military retaliation, the Indian Army has used Anti-nkTa Guided Missiles (ATGMs) to target and destroy a number of Pakistani military outposts along the Line of Control (LoC), defence sources confirmed on Thursday morning. The move is in response to unprovoked cross-border firing by Pakistani troops, which heightened tensions following a deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that killed 26 individuals.
As per official sources, the missile attack was aimed at forward Pakistani posts suspected of assisting and facilitating infiltrators. “The Indian Army has conducted targeted strikes with ATGMs against Pakistani positions directly responsible for recent ceasefire breaches,” the senior defence official said, highlighting the precision and effectiveness of the operation.
What Is an Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM)?
An Anti-Tank Guided Missile, often abbreviated as an ATGM, is a complex missile system designed to destroy highly armoured targets such as tanks at a distance. Unlike ordinary bombs, such missiles are “guided,” in the sense that they can lock their target and redirect their flight during travel, substantially enhancing precision and effect.
These missiles can be fired from a range of platforms—shoulder-fired launchers, ground vehicles, and even helicopters—providing troops with mobility and tactical advantage in combat.
How Do They Work?
ATGMs employ a “shaped charge,” a deeply concentrated explosive system that directs its energy along a narrow trajectory. This concentrated energy is powerful enough to cut through heavy layers of tank armour or heavily fortified military positions, hence their suitability for precision attacks under hostile conditions.
The recent deployment reflects India’s willingness to answer firmly to cross-border aggression using technologically equipped weapons to help limit collateral damage.
The present strike is also being viewed, not just as a message of deterrence but also as one of reaffirmation of the zero-tolerance policy of India towards terrorism and ceasefire violations. Military officials made it clear once again that another such provocation from the other side will face an equally tough response.
