Horrendous Andheri Residential Complex Fire Kills Woman, Leaves Six Others Injured
Mumbai, April 26, 2025 — A horrific residential complex fire has killed a woman aged 34 and left six others, among them two toddlers, with severe suffocation injuries, local authorities said.
The fire originated from a flat on the first floor of eight-storey Broke Land building in the Lokhandwala Complex at approximately 2:40 AM. People were alerted by fire that caused chaos as the apartment filled with smoke.
Abhina Sanjanwala was pronounced dead at Kokilaben Hospital after she died due to suffocation, a civic official confirmed.The local community has been left reeling with the news of the horrific accident.
The other victims included a 10-day-old baby and a three-year-old, both of whom were taken to the hospital for treatment. The baby remains in the intensive care unit, with doctors closely monitoring her condition.
Besides, two male residents were taken to Cooper and Trauma Care hospitals for treatment of smoke inhalation. Their statuses have not been released.
Reports show that the fire was limited to domestic items like electrical wiring, furniture, and documents. The quick response by the fire brigade used four vehicles to put out the fire, stopping further spread and destruction.
The authorities are now looking into the origin of the fire and learning more about the incident. While the community is grieving the loss of a resident, local authorities are reminding residents to stay alert when it comes to fire safety in high-rise buildings.
