Navi Mumbai Man Loses ₹2.74 Crore in Online Gaming Scam
A 42-year-old businessman from Navi Mumbai has fallen victim to a massive online gaming scam, losing nearly ₹2.74 crore.
The man, who lives in Koparkhairane, was contacted by fraudsters who convinced him to join an online gaming platform that promised big rewards for playing games. Trusting their claims, he started depositing money into various bank accounts given by them — a total of over ₹3.24 crore between December 2022 and April 2025.
At first, everything seemed normal. He was told that once he reached a certain level of investment, he would receive huge prize money. But when the promised rewards never came, he realised something was wrong.
He managed to recover ₹50 lakh from the platform, but the remaining amount was gone.
He even tried contacting the company behind the gaming app, but got no response.
The police registered a case on May 20, and the cyber crime cell is now investigating the matter.
