Film Continues Its Blockbuster Run

Kantara: Chapter 1, the much-talked-about prequel to the 2022 hit, seems unstoppable at the box office. As the film gears up for completion of Day 45, its worldwide earnings have risen to an astonishing ₹849.72 crore and stand just a step away from crossing the monumental ₹850-crore mark. The film has recorded a net earning of around ₹620 crore in India alone, while its domestic gross has risen close to ₹739 crore. Its performance at the international box office has also been strong, with an approximate contribution of ₹111 crore to the total.

Despite being into its seventh week of theatrical run, the film has been attracting consistent footfall across regions. On Day 45, the Kannada version garnered approximately ₹0.10 crore while Hindi and Tamil dubbed versions contributed around ₹0.25 crore and ₹0.03 crore respectively. These numbers reflect its strong connect with audiences outside the home state.

Estimated to be made on a budget of ₹125 crores, Kantara: Chapter 1 has become one of the most profitable and talked-about Indian films this year. The film uniquely mixes folklore, mysticism, and action, rooted in the traditions of coastal Karnataka, which has been crucial in keeping viewers engaged for so long since its release.

With the film crossing the ₹850-crore mark, it might as well top the list of the year’s largest blockbuster hits and further strengthen Rishab Shetty’s status as a powerhouse storyteller in Indian cinema.
