‘Jaat’ Movie Triggers Controversy, FIR Against Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda In Punjab
A scene in 'Jaat', which was released on April 10, has "deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the entire Christian community", the complainant alleged.

A case has been lodged against Bollywood stars Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda and Vineet Kumar Singh for offending religious sentiments with a scene in their recently-released film ‘Jaat’.
The case was lodged by the Jalandhar police on Thursday under Section 299 (intentional and malicious acts meant to outrage religious feelings) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). It was also lodged against Jaat’s director, Gopichand Malineni, and its producers.
One of the scenes of the movie, which was released on April 10, “deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the entire Christian community,” the complainant alleged.
He claimed that there was disrespect shown to Jesus Christ.
“The director, writer and producer intentionally screened this movie in the holy month of Good Friday and Easter so that the Christians become enraged and riots erupt all over the country and unrest spreads,” the complainant claimed.
Sunny Deol’s new action movie, ‘Jaat’, stars Randeep Hooda as the central villain, while Vineet Kumar Singh, Saiyami Kher, Regina Cassandra, Prashant Bajaj, Zarina Wahab, and Jagapathi Babu appear in supporting roles.
It also represented the Hindi directorial debut of Mr Malineni, who is otherwise well-known for Telugu films such as “Don Seenu”, “Bodyguard”, and “Veera Simha Reddy”.
The film has been made by Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory and came out in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu languages. The film grossed more than Rs 32 crore at the box office during its opening weekend.
On Thursday, Mr Deol confirmed that he would once again be on the big screen with ‘Jaat 2’.
