August 9, New Delhi — Five people have been arrested by Delhi Police for masterminding a nationwide phony employment scam that defrauded a Munirka resident out of ₹17.31 lakh. The gang used mule accounts, cryptocurrency, and global networks to transfer money while pretending to be employers who offered payment for hotel reviews. An estimated ₹42 lakh has been fraudulently linked to the operation.

Official statements state that the victim’s complaint on June 12 brought the scam to light. The accused, identified on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) as Mohammad Yaseen, Rohit Nimbawat, Yash Vaishnav, Mahipal, and their purported ringleader Ravindra Vishnoi, had also been connected to several other cases of a similar nature.

Investigations showed that the scammers received and laundered the stolen funds using USDT cryptocurrencies, SIM cards, and mule accounts. The group allegedly had connections to Chinese fraud networks, and some of the mule accounts came from Singapore and Nepal.

According to authorities, the operation was sophisticated and transnational in scope, using digital infrastructure and online platforms to avoid detection and prosecution. The investigation is still ongoing to find more accomplices and retrieve the remaining funds. The FIR was filed under the appropriate sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

This case demonstrates the growing trend of cybercriminals using false employment schemes to take advantage of job seekers. Police have advised people to be wary of unsolicited job offers and to confirm the legitimacy of any opportunity before disclosing financial or personal information.
