“The biggest cyber fraud of ₹2.98 crore was busted by the CID in Jharkhand.”
The investigation revealed that the scammers were using Chinese-financed fraudulent investment apps—specifically, apps like Milnay, DragonPay, SuperPay, and MangoPayIndia. These applications were transmitted via Telegram to Indian agents, who installed them on mobile phones linked to users’ bank‑linked SIM cards.Once installed, the malicious APKs would automatically forward OTPs and bank alert messages to Chinese servers, granting the fraudsters remote access to the victim’s accounts.

On Sunday, July 6, 2025, the Cyber Crime Branch of Jharkhand’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested seven Indian citizens from a hotel in Ranchi for their alleged involvement in a cross-border cyber fraud racket operated in collaboration with a Chinese network.
The accused have been identified as Kumar Deepak, Kumar Saurabh, Prabhat Kumar, Lakhan Chaurasia, Shivam Kumar, Anil Kumar, and Pradeep Kumar. According to Jharkhand DGP Asim Vikrant Minz, the gang carried out illegal financial transactions on behalf of Chinese operators by arranging mule bank accounts. Their primary methods of cyber fraud included fraudulent investment schemes and “digital arrest” scams, where victims were coerced into transferring funds under the false pretense of law enforcement action.
The arrested individuals functioned as agents for the Chinese syndicate, providing Indian user data and helping install a malicious mobile application sent via Telegram. This app, once installed on victims’ phones with SIM cards linked to bank accounts, transmitted OTPs and bank alerts directly to Chinese servers, enabling remote access to users’ bank accounts.
CID officials recovered 12 mobile phones, 11 SIM cards, 14 ATM cards, a laptop, and a cheque book during the operation. Investigations revealed that fraud was carried out across multiple Indian states, with 60 bank accounts identified so far. 68 complaints have been filed against the gang from various parts of the country.
Further probe indicates the gang’s kingpin worked for multiple Chinese financial platforms, including Moon Pay, Dragon Pay, Super Pay, and MangoIndia Pay. The accused reportedly collaborated with these platforms to launder money through mutual bank accounts and other illicit financial channels.
Substantial digital evidence, including WhatsApp and Telegram chats, has been recovered and is now under forensic analysis.
