Zimbabwe Outclass Sri Lanka With Commanding 67-Run Victory

Raza and Bennett star with the bat, then Evans and Ngarava make short work of Sri Lanka's chase in Rawalpindi

Zimbabwe take control with a strong all-round show

Zimbabwe came up with an all-round game to outplay Sri Lanka in the second clash of the Pakistan T20I Tri-Series 2025-26 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The visitors batted first, posting a competitive 162 for 8, built on a steady start from Brian Bennett’s 49 off 42 and skipper Sikandar Raza’s 47 off 32. Their composed 61-run partnership set the tempo and gave Zimbabwe a solid platform to push ahead.

Though Zimbabwe kept losing wickets at regular intervals, their run rate stayed healthy, ensuring that the total remained challenging. Sri Lanka’s bowlers failed to break critical stands early in the innings, which in the end allowed Zimbabwe to control the pace of the innings. The target, while not huge, proved more than adequate under the match conditions.

Sri Lanka’s chase came apart at the seams. Besides Dasun Shanaka’s fighting 34 off 25 balls, none of the batters could hold firm as they slumped to 95 all out in their allotted overs. The batting never gathered any rhythm, and the pressure mounted in no time.

Clinical bowling wraps up an easy win

The bowlers of Zimbabwe grabbed their opportunities with both hands. Brad Evans bowling a spell of 3 for 9 in less than four overs, ripped through the top order of Sri Lanka. Richard Ngarava then supported with his disciplined 2 for 15, which left Sri Lanka with no breathing space.

A shaky start in the powerplay sealed Sri Lanka’s fate, and the chase never gained momentum due to Zimbabwe’s disciplined lines, sharp fielding, and consistent pressure. This emphatic win boosts Zimbabwe’s confidence in the series, while Sri Lanka must address their batting concerns before the next match.
