Gangster Sharad Mohol was shot by three assailants near his Pune residence on January 5 and succumbed to his injuries at a hospital a few hours later.

Six Arrested in Connection with Gangster Sharad Mohol’s Murder
Mumbai: The shadowy world of organized crime took another dramatic turn as the Navi Mumbai Police arrested six individuals, including a prime suspect, in connection with the murder of gangster Sharad Mohol, a case currently under investigation by the Pune crime branch.
Acting on precise intelligence, the Panvel City Police apprehended some of the accused along the Panvel highway, while others were nabbed outside a dance bar in Vashi on Sunday evening. Following their arrest, the six individuals were handed over to the Pune crime branch for further investigation.
Earlier, the Pune Police had arrested eight people, including the prime suspect Sahil Polekar (20) and two lawyers, on the Pune-Satara highway, seizing firearms and live bullets in the process.
“The persons arrested by Navi Mumbai Police include the main suspect Ramdas Marne, who is believed to have been directly involved in planning and executing Mohol’s killing,” said an official.
The Victim and the Attack
Sharad Mohol, a criminal with a history of kidnapping, attempted murder, and murder charges, was attacked near his residence in Sutardara, Kothrud on January 5. Three assailants opened fire, hitting him in the chest and shoulder. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Mohol succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.
The attack shocked local residents, many of whom described Mohol as a controversial figure with a long criminal past. While his actions had instilled fear, the violent nature of his death underscores the dangers and unpredictability inherent in the criminal underworld.
A Wider Implication
This case highlights the coordinated efforts of police across cities in tackling organized crime. With arrests in both Pune and Navi Mumbai, authorities aim to dismantle the network behind Mohol’s murder, prevent further retaliation, and bring all conspirators to justice.
For law enforcement, every arrest is not just about solving a case but about sending a message: crime, no matter how organized, will not go unchecked.
