Confusion over whereabouts of Imran Khan sparks online panic as sisters report assault outside Adiala Jail
Concerns over the safety of the jailed ex-PM are growing after his sisters claimed they were violently attacked while trying to meet him

Claims of police violence heighten doubts over Imran Khan’s condition
There have been several instances of rumors on social media about the possible death of Imran Khan inside Adiala Jail, with a number of posts speculating over his health and whereabouts. Meanwhile, his sisters — Noreen Niazi, Aleema Khan, and Dr Uzma Khan — issued a statement saying the police resisted and manhandled them when they tried to visit him in the Rawalpindi prison.
According to the family and PTI supporters, the gathering outside the jail was a peaceful one and did not pose any threat to public order. However, according to them, suddenly streetlights were switched off and a harsh crackdown started. Noreen, aged 71, said she was pulled by her hair, pushed to the ground, and left with noticeable bruises, while other women were slapped and shoved.
The incident provoked a huge gathering of PTI supporters to mobilize in front of Adiala Jail, asking for clear information on Khan’s status. His sisters have urged the Punjab Police chief to initiate an unbiased investigation and take action against the officers involved in the alleged assault.
The incident has raised the same questions about the treatment of opposition figures in Pakistan once again. All along, the authorities have not furnished any authenticated details regarding Imran Khan’s health nor confirmed his latest condition, which allowed uncertainty and public anxiety to escalate even further.
