Cristiano Ronaldo To Miss Clash Against FC Goa, Confirms Al-Nassr Coach
Despite early speculation of his appearance in India, Al-Nassr's head coach has confirmed the Portuguese superstar will sit out the AFC Champions League 2 match against FC Goa to manage his workload.

In what many would have termed an unanticipated turn for Indian football fans, Cristiano Ronaldo will not play in Al-Nassr’s AFC Champions League 2 fixture against FC Goa, coach Jorge Jesus has now confirmed.
Speaking to the media ahead of the match, Jesus revealed that the 40-year-old legend would be rested for the game in order to maintain his fitness and keep him fresh for future games.
“Cristiano will not play on Wednesday. This match will be a good chance for other players to prove themselves,” the coach told reporters.
Earlier reports from Saudi outlets hinted that Ronaldo could travel with the squad, adding to the fans’ excitement to catch a glimpse of the football icon in action against an Indian club for the first time. However, the coach then swiftly clarified that Ronaldo’s inclusion into the initial squad list did not confirm his participation.
Opportunity for New Faces
Without Ronaldo, Al-Nassr will be pinning its hopes on Haroune Camara and other forwards to spearhead the attack. Camara had scored in the reverse fixture, which Al-Nassr won narrowly 2-1.
The update changes FC Goa’s defensive planning as the team, which had been preparing to face one of the greatest scorers in football, will now look to contain Al-Nassr’s younger and quicker forwards. The Saudi side will still pose a formidable challenge, packed as they are with international talent. While fans might be disappointed not to see the Portuguese legend in action, the game still has the promise of a thrilling contest between India’s top club and one of Asia’s strongest football teams.
