Odisha’s Renowned Singer Humane Sagar Passes Away at 36

In his sudden demise, 36-year-old Odia music sensation Humane Sagar has left the fans and the industry in deep shock. He breathed his last at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where he was admitted a few days ago due to his deteriorating health. Doctors put him on advanced life-support, but his condition continued to deteriorate despite intensive treatment. His sudden death has created a huge void in Odisha’s contemporary music scene.
A medical bulletin released by the hospital confirmed that Sagar was suffering from severe complications in health, including bilateral pneumonia, acute on chronic liver failure, and multi-organ dysfunction. These issues resulted in critical respiratory failure, making recovery highly challenging. Despite continuous effort by specialists, he was declared dead on Monday evening. His death has triggered a massive outpouring of grief among fans across the state.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi gave his heartfelt tribute and termed Sagar’s death as a great cultural loss for the state. He has sympathised with the bereaved family and prayed for the singer’s soul to rest in peace. Former CM Naveen Patnaik also condoled the demise, remembering Sagar as the gifted artist whose songs changed the hearts of millions of people. The leaders of different political and art fraternities have mourned over his untimely death.
Humane Sagar came into the limelight after winning the second season of the singing reality show Voice of Odisha in 2012. During all these years, he emerged as one of the most sought-after voices in Odia cinema and devotional songs. His unique tone, emotional depth, and versatility made him a household name. With his demise, Odisha loses not just a singer but an artist who shaped the musical identity of a generation.
