Sentinel Cybercrime Lab is opened in Rajkot, Gujarat.

The Rajkot City Police in Gujarat has established the first Cyber Sentinel Lab to combat rising cybercrime incidents and enhance detection capabilities. The lab is supported by the Cyber Security Society, a trust with public participation, which has contributed Rs 4.26 crore to establish the facility. The lab is equipped with advanced forensic software worth Rs 1.25 crore, including Maltego, Oxygen Forensics, UFED, FTK, Digital Collector & Inspector, Acunetix, Bursuite Pro, Sonar Cube, Tableau TX1, and Mail Examiner.

The lab will provide training to Rajkot City Police and other Saurashtra district personnel in cybercrime investigations, raise awareness among citizens about cybercrime prevention, offer internships to technical students, and support cybercrime police stations in handling cases more efficiently. The lab operates with a 14-member team, including one PI, three PSIs, and ten police personnel. Three contract-based cyber experts have been appointed, bringing expertise from Delhi Cyber Crime Cell, CID Crime Gandhinagar, and Cyber Crime Rajkot.

The lab houses 14 high-performance systems and features a dedicated smart rack server room to mitigate risks from viruses and hacking attempts. A modern forensic kit has been incorporated to streamline investigations, allowing for the immediate creation of forensic images of digital evidence, such as hard drives or pen drives, ensuring data integrity through write protection mechanisms. Key features of the lab include Tableau Portable Imager, a high-end hardware tool for forensic data collection, Logibe Talon, a cutting-edge device for digital forensic data imaging, Digital Collector & Digital Inspector, an advanced video analysis system, and Mail Examiner for advanced email investigation.

The Rajkot Cyber Sentinel Lab represents a major step forward in cybercrime prevention, detection, and forensic investigation in Gujarat. With cutting-edge tools, expert personnel, and an emphasis on training and awareness, it sets a new benchmark for cybersecurity efforts in Gujarat.
