Mumbai: Young Cyberstalker Arrested for Exploiting Over 700 Girls Online

Mumbai: In a disturbing case highlighting the dangers of social media, Mumbai Police’s Cyber Crime unit has arrested a 20-year-old man from Gujarat for allegedly exploiting more than 700 teenage and pre-teen girls.

The accused, Alfaz Anwar Ali, was apprehended on September 5 in Bhavnagar, a diamond-cutting hub south of Ahmedabad, after police received complaints about Instagram accounts of young girls being hacked and used for blackmail and sexual exploitation.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber Crime) Dr. Rashmi Karandikar said that Ali had previously been arrested in Pune on similar charges. “He created fake Instagram accounts under female names and used them to befriend girls aged 9 to 15. Once he gained their trust, he convinced them to share photos, which he later morphed and used to blackmail them,” she explained.

This case is a reminder of the risks children face online and the importance of monitoring social media activity. Authorities are urging parents to educate their children about online safety and report any suspicious behavior immediately.

The Mumbai Police continue to investigate the case and are reviewing Ali’s online activity to ensure all victims receive justice.
