Operation “Naya Savera,” a 15-day special campaign, has been announced by Bihar Police as a forceful response to human trafficking. The initiative, which runs from July 31 to August 14, aims to rescue girls, women, and children who are ensnared in child labor, trafficking, red light districts, and exploitative orchestra groups. All of Bihar’s districts will be involved in the campaign, and police units will coordinate to find, rescue, and rehabilitate victims. For their efforts, the top two districts will receive awards and recognition.
Director General of police of Bihar Vinay kumar, drew attention to the shocking increase in human trafficking in the state of Bihar during a celebration on the International Day Against Human Trafficking. About 7,000 children have gone missing in Bihar in past years, with 2,000 to 3,000 of them still unaccounted for, according to recent statistics that Kumar cited. Numerous missing children are thought to be forcibly included in child labor, prostitution, or begging. The DGP emphasized the importance of launching significant efforts to fight human trafficking, which is the second-largest organized crime after drug trafficking.
DGP Kumar also urged society to support police efforts against such horrible crimes, voicing concerns about child abuse that is covered up by white-collar jobs. He emphasized the need for community support and voiced disappointment over public demonstrations against police actions intended to protect children. In a very concerning trend, the number of missing persons cases has increased from roughly 3,000 per year to 10,000–12,000 cases. Operation Naya Savera seeks to end the cycle of trafficking and exploitation in Bihar by stepping up police efforts, increasing public awareness, and holding everyone accountable.
