Pune Tragedy: Man Kills Woman He Was in a Relationship With After Birthday Celebration, Surrenders to Police

Pune: In a shocking incident that has left the Pimpri-Chinchwad community reeling, a 25-year-old man allegedly murdered a 26-year-old woman he was in a relationship with at a lodge in the Wakad area on Saturday, just a day after celebrating her birthday.

The accused, Dilawar Singh, a resident of Pisoli, Pune, later surrendered to the police. According to authorities, Singh admitted to the crime, claiming that he suspected the woman of being involved with another man.

A Relationship Turns Deadly

The victim has been identified as Mary Mallesh Telugu, 26, from Dehu Road. Mary had previously worked at a department store and was currently unemployed. Singh, also unemployed, had been doing small jobs and had been in a relationship with Mary for some time.

Police officials said that on the day of the incident, Singh took Mary to a lodge in Kalakhadak, Wakad, to celebrate her birthday, which had fallen the day before.

“He told the police that he discovered intimate photos of Mary with another man on her phone. In a fit of rage, he allegedly slit her throat with a razor blade and struck her with a wrench,” said an officer from Wakad police station.

The brutality of the act has shocked both residents and authorities.

Surrender and Arrest

Singh approached the Kondhwa police station on Saturday evening and confessed to the crime. Following his surrender, he was arrested, and a murder case was registered at Wakad police station.

“He admitted that he was in a relationship with Mary but acted out of suspicion and jealousy. The investigation is ongoing,” the officer added.

Mary’s untimely death has left family, friends, and neighbours devastated. Those who knew her described her as a kind and hardworking young woman who had faced challenges in her professional life but remained optimistic about the future.

Residents of Wakad expressed their shock over the violence and called for greater awareness about relationship disputes escalating into violence.
