Sonu Sood: The teachings of Guru Nanak continue to guide my path of service and compassion.
The actor reflects upon how Guru Nanak Dev Ji's timeless message of seva, humility, and unity shapes his personal life and humanitarian work.

A Life Inspired by Guru Nanak’s Values
On the occasion of Gurpurab, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, actor-philanthropist Sonu Sood shared how the profound teachings of the Guru on seva and unity continue to influence his outlook toward life.
Raised in Punjab, Sood said his family imbued him with the values of compassion, equality, and community service from a very young age. “From an early age, I learned that real happiness lies in helping others. The smiles you bring to people’s faces become your true wealth,” he said.
He added that Guru Nanak’s lessons transcend religion and show the way for all in modern times. “In the rush of life, we often forget to pause, care, and connect. Gurpurab reminds us to live with kindness and purpose,” said Sood.
Known for his humanitarian efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sood added that every philanthropic effort he engages in comes from the Guru’s message of service without expectation. “The idea of seva — to serve selflessly — is the foundation of everything I do,” he said.
For Sood, Gurpurab is not just a celebration but also a reminder to bring compassion and unity into the daily fabric of our lives. “Guru Nanak’s teachings aren’t just history — they’re a way of life that continues to guide me every single day,” he concluded.
