Maharashtra Cabinet Approves ₹837 Crore Cyber Safety Project

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Cabinet approved a ₹837 crore cyber safety project on Wednesday to improve the state’s ability to tackle rising cybercrimes.

A government statement said the initiative will combine various technologies into one framework. The project will include setting up a control and command center, technology-assisted investigation systems, a center of excellence, a Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), a cloud-based data center, and a security operations center.

One important feature of the project is a 24×7 call center for citizens to report cybercrime complaints. Officials believe this will make it easier for people across the state to report incidents.

The government also mentioned that cybercrimes will now be investigated with better tools and skilled personnel. This will lead to more thorough investigations and a higher chance of convictions.

Along with the cyber safety project, the Cabinet approved financial support for struggling sugar cooperative factories. These factories can now access loans from state cooperative banks with government backing.

These decisions show the state’s emphasis on technology readiness and economic stability. They address modern cyber threats while also supporting key sectors like the cooperative sugar industry.
