After 21 days of fasting, Sonam Wangchuk's hospitalization has intensified nationwide discussions on education reforms and student accountability.
Social activist and education reformer Sonam Wangchuk continues to be in the focus of nation-wide attention following his 21-day hunger strike, staged in support of the students’ movement against examination papers leakages. Following the reports of worsening health conditions, Delhi Police transferred Wangchuk to Safdarjung Hospital on a doctor’s advice. Dehydration is among the health complications Wangchuk reportedly suffered during his hunger strike.
While hospitalized, Wangchuk continued supporting the movement and asked for permission to join the “Sansad Chalo”march. The movement has grown into an even bigger protest by young people, getting massive support not only from students but also from civil society all around the country.
