Thane Shaken: Escaped Convict Accused of Second Child’s Rape and Murder

The news of the arrest of a powerloom worker, who had formerly escaped custody while being charged with the murder and rape of a six-year-old girl, and is now suspected of the sexual assault and strangulation of another little girl, has shocked and outraged the entire district of Thane, Maharashtra.

The 33-year-old man was taken into custody on Saturday in connection with the horrific incident that occurred in Bhiwandi town on October 1st.

The Crime and Swift Arrest

Police officials stated that the suspect raped and strangled his seven-year-old neighbor. After the crime, it was reported that he hid her body in a bag and tried to run away on Wednesday.

However, the perpetrator’s escape was cut short very quickly. The police caught him that same night just as he was about to leave Maharashtra and head for Madhubani in Bihar.

Parents Discover the Tragedy

The girl had gone outside to urinate but not returned. This led to an immediate search by her parents who eventually located her in the locked house of the accused. They even saw the little bucket that the girl had taken along with her.

When the parents broke in, they were devastated to find the child’s body lying in a gunny sack.

A History of Violence and Escape

The police inquiry has uncovered a disturbing past. In 2023, the suspect was allegedly charged with sexually assaulting and murdering a six-year-old girl in the same manner. He had been arrested for this and was detained in Thane Central Jail.

Significantly, an officer revealed that the accused had escaped from police custody during a court session in August, and had returned to the victim’s area the following day.
