Mammootty Wins Best Actor; Manjummel Boys Declared Best Film at Kerala State Film Awards Thiruvananthapuram, November 3, 2025

Malayalam cinema’s biggest night of the year had two of its most celebrated names coming out with well-deserved recognition as veteran actor Mammootty bagged the Best Actor award, while the critically acclaimed, commercially successful film “Manjummel Boys” won the coveted Best Film title at the 55th Kerala State Film Awards announced on Monday.
The Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, under the Department of Cultural Affairs, presented the awards in recognition for the best works among the 128 films that were submitted this year.
Mammootty Shines Again
The legendary actor, still dominating Malayalam cinema across generations, added one more feather to his cap. His powerful performance, combining emotive heft and nuance of telling, was highly appreciated by the jury. This recognition further cements Mammootty’s reputation as one of Indian cinema’s most versatile and enduring performers.
Manjummel Boys: From Box Office to Glory
Besides conquering the box office, Manjummel Boys, a survival drama true to real-life events, impressed critics with its gripping narrative, technical brilliance, and emotional intensity. The selection of the film as Best Film testifies that Malayalam cinema continues to strike a balance between the box office and creative excellence.
A Year of Strong Performances
Besides Mammootty’s victory, many other artists and technicians received awards for their stellar contributions to Malayalam cinema. A fine blend of storytelling and technical finesse combined with socially relevant themes, the jury underlined, marked the state’s vibrant film culture this year.
What the Awards Mean
The Kerala State Film Awards of 2025 reiterate the status of Malayalam cinema as one of the most artistically richer and progressive film industries in India. While Manjummel Boys bridges the gap between mass appeal and critical acclaim, with Mammootty once again proving that age is no barrier to brilliance, this year’s honours give due recognition to both legacy and innovation in equal measure.
