Nothing OS 4.0 with Android 16 Now Rolling Out to Nothing Phone 3 Users

The update brings improved Glyph features, deeper dark mode, smoother animations, and new AI tools on Phone 3

Key Features of Nothing OS 4.0 Update

Nothing has started rolling out the Nothing OS 4.0 update, based on Android 16, for the Nothing Phone 3. A new firmware with build number B4.0-251117-1909 has been released for all users; however, the open-beta testers get a small patch, while others download the full build. This update introduces various visual and performance improvements, along with changes that will further customize the experience.

A major highlight of this update is the revamped Glyph functionality. The rear LED interface can now display live progress for delivery orders, ride-tracking, countdown timers, and more across supported apps. Users will also notice smoother animations, refined touch response, and a new Extra Dark Mode that deepens black levels in system apps to improve both viewing comfort and battery efficiency.

Multitasking is also more versatile, thanks to the ability to have up to two floating app windows on-screen at once. These can be minimized, resized, or expanded intuitively by using simple gestures, such as pinching and swiping. Phone 3 owners also get access to new Glyph Toys, including fun animations like an hourglass and moon-cycle display. An improved Glyph Mirror Selfie mode now saves two photos — one mirrored and one original — for extra options.

Additionally, this update introduces a creative AI-powered Widget Builder inside the Playground section. Users can describe the type of widget they need, and in a matter of seconds, the AI produces a personalized version right away, adding a new level of customization to it.
