PM Modi Says Bihar Voters Rejected “Divisive M–Y,” Chose New “Mahila-Youth” Formula

He frames the victory of the NDA in Bihar as a mandate against caste-based appeasement and in favor of women, youth, development, and good governance

A New Political Equation: Women & Youth over Old Alliances

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the sweeping victory of the NDA in the Bihar Assembly elections, saying voters have rejected the old “M–Y” (Muslim–Yadav) politics. He termed the result as a turn towards a new “constructive M–Y” — Mahila (women) and Youth — to drive home the point that women and youths from all religions and castes were pivotal for this transformation.

Modi argued that this was not merely symbolic: it was a case of the electorate rejecting what he called appeasement politics in favour of a politics of development and governance. He even invoked “Chhathi Maiya” to connect culturally, and thanked the public for their trust.

In his remarks, Modi warned against a return of “jungle raj” — the term he had used for previous periods of alleged lawlessness — and termed this verdict as one that strengthens democratic institutions such as the Election Commission. He also targeted Congress for pursuing “negative” politics and predicted internal splits within it.
